1-website URL, social media link, etc... I'm not in the manpower business, just connect dots
2-Point of Contact if you don't have a website or SM the volunteers need a way to contact you. This means a real name, email address, and/or a phone #
3-what County you are working in. This is a big area, very few groups/people will serve the whole thing.
4-what type of work you do. Again it is hard to do everything in relation to recovery and rebuilding.
As many groups have realized over the response to Helene its not a one size fits all approach. For those I'm not familiar with here is a basic list. I don't want people saying they didn't know. And yes I know websites say a whole lot. But I also know some groups are not as volunteer savvy as they think they are. Ive worked with great, good, and terrible over the years.
Please send
1-general # of people needed
2-point of contact (they need a phone number and email address) who will respond in a timely manner
3-location (website is laid out by county but people will want to know the meeting point/town
4-dates of the volunteer work yes I know some will be ongoing but need to know if weekend/day etc.
5-skills needed by volunteers if any. You don't want a bunch of demo guys/gals showing up to sort clothes or do admin, most will still help that day but you may poison the well for others by giving bad details.
6-accomodations available if any. Hotels, airbnb"s and vacation rentals will be harder to come you for a while. If your group is working remote do you have tent, camper, rv parking, bathrooms for longer term volunteers
7-estimated hours per day of work while they are on site. If you run them into the ground, they won't come back.
8-any tools, vehicles, equipment needed.
9-age groups allowed to volunteer
10-501c3 information if you have it. Sometimes the tax deduction will make a difference.
The reason for this site is to connect, give links to websites where possible, connect volunteers to knowledgeable points of contacts with relief groups, and give as many options as possible.
I suggest using those websites, and contact information for points of contacts almost like searching for a job. We will do our best to put skills needed on every listing for volunteer opportunities if we can squeeze it out of the group. This will help.
You always as a volunteer have the ability to walk away if you do not feel comfortable, or feel like you have been mislead in your search..
Our inclusion of a group on this site is not saying how we feel about their organization.. I do not have the ability or time to vet every group and make no representation to their validity.
There are hundreds if not thousands of fundraisers out there for WNC and East TN right now. But I will not post your fundraiser on my site. This is why we link to actual website, email or phone numbers.
I am connecting dots not pocketbooks. If you list here I will verify the link and contact info. If it comes back as a fundraiser, GSG, gofundme or other spam, I will ban you.
You may have that information on your own site, social media, etc... but if the contact info you provide goes directly to a fundraiser, you will be removed permanently. If I can build and operate this site, you can surely tell people about yourself before you ask for money.
